Yesterday many students all over the world waited for Google to announce the list of accepted students for this years Google Summer of Code (GSoC).
Google Summer of Code is a global program by Google that offers students to write code for open source projects. The TYPO3 Association is one of the 177 mentoring open source organizations participating this year.
1192 students/projects were accepted from a total of 5999 proposals by 4144 students. We had a bunch of promising proposals too and are delighted that we got five slots this year.

18.07.2013 TYPO3 Community May/June 2013
In the months of May and June the preparations for the TYPO3 conference in Stuttgart really started to take shape. The development of TYPO3 CMS 6.2 LTS was kicked off, there was considerable progress on Flow and Neos, our projects in the Google Summer of Code started. We had the TYPO3 conference in San Francisco and we had the TYPO3camp Berlin and Stuttgart. The first half of this year closed off with T3UNI in Annecy, France.

The Google Summer of Code is over and it's time to recap.
In the last 3 month Google gave 1,060 students in total the opportunity to work and code for an Open Source Project at one of 177 mentoring organizations. That's the annual Google Summer of Code.
We, the TYPO3 Community, participated for the fourth time and mentored five students this year.
